We did it again!
Pinay-Spanish Alexandra Masangkay Escalona may not be the winner in last night’s finale of Spain’s most popular singing contest Operación Triunfo (OT). Nahuel, from Paraguay, who got the most text votes brought home the grand prize of this short-lived, least-watched OT edition.
Alexandra was declared as the most popular contestant over the internet, which still entitles her to continue her singing career under the Spanish recording label Blusens Music.
This feat was achieved thanks to millions of people, especially Filipinos in Spain and all over the world who supported, campaigned and voted for her on Facebook, Twitter and otlive.es.
Some even participated in the second Flashmob and mass dance held last Saturday, February 19, in Barcelona, Spain as you will see in the following video:

weeee, congrats to Alex. pero bakit finale na kaagad nmg OT?nabigla nga ako when my landlady told me about it coz kasisimula pa lng naman ng show.
Kasi mababa ang ratings. Ang laki ng binaba niya before 48-60% ang ratigs. This time, pinakamataas na yata ang 14% so dahil mababa ang ratings and ratings mean money and this is business, Telecinco decided to cancel it. Before nga, all the contestants who were eliminated would bring home a car as a consolation prize. Wala na ring sponsor nun. Many people are saying that they could have just put it one of their TV stations, Siete or Cuatro. They didn’t even consider these young people’s dreams nor the efforts of all the people behind the program. It’s all about the money.
