The Bangladeshi government, through the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment ministry, has adopted a plan that would provide female migrant workers mobile phones and sim cards upon completing training prior to departure to aid in addressing problems they may encounter in their country of destination. The move is aimed at helping domestic workers in distress and facilitating information dissemination at a time when Dhaka’s foreign missions suffer from logistical problems and manpower inadequacies.
